Karma is a pioneering fintech company revolutionizing charitable giving through everyday transactions. Through our Karma platform, we're building a bridge between consumer spending and social impact, creating value for investors, consumers, and communities worldwide.
Karma was born from a simple, yet profound observation: small acts of kindness can have a ripple effect, inspiring positive change. The journey began in 2018, when co-founder John Eagleton took his family to Odessa, Ukraine. A seemingly ordinary beach vacation took an unexpected turn as his Gen Z children spent the day collecting plastic debris on the beach.
Initially, the task seemed daunting, but as they persisted, other beachgoers noticed their efforts and began to join in. This sparked a realization for John: a small, individual action can ignite a collective movement. This experience laid the foundation for Karma's mission: to harness the power of everyday choices to create a more sustainable and compassionate world.
John’s entrepreneurial spirit, honed through years of building impactful software, led him to explore how technology could amplify this ripple effect. He drew inspiration from his past work, including Aidworks, which used software to reunite children separated from their families during wartime, and ChargaCard, a platform designed to help people manage unexpected medical expenses.
Returning to the US, John encountered another opportunity to create positive change. While shopping, he was asked to round up his purchase to donate to a charity he'd never heard of, even as the store offered significant discounts. This incongruity sparked a new idea: what if a portion of those discounts could be redirected to charitable causes?
The merchant cashback market, however, was still nascent. Recognizing this untapped potential, John seized the opportunity to start working on Karma in 2022. Over the past two years, the Karma team has been diligently building and testing their product, refining it to achieve product-market fit.
Karma's vision is to empower individuals to make a difference, one transaction at a time. By seamlessly integrating charitable giving into everyday shopping, Karma aims to transform consumer choices into a force for good. As Karma continues to grow, it aspires to inspire a global movement of conscious consumption and compassionate action.
